ABSTRACT OF THE WEEK
Dog obesity: veterinary practices' and owners' opinions on cause and management.
Veterinary practices felt that 3% of cases could be attributed to dog specific factors and 97% to human specific factors such as diet, exercise, and owner attitudes. Management strategies included reducing food intake, reduced treat feeding, and changing diet before recommending more intensive options such as obesity clinics. Of the surveyed veterinary practices, 43% ran obesity clinics and 79% of those believed they were a valuable management tool.

VSPN This Week
A special member benefit is the book reviews we have on texts available through the VIN Store as well as other venues. VSPN has been churning out reviews for several years but author and book review coordinator Oreta Samples has really gotten us moving this year with more than a review per week currently. Because of this great resource available to you to read reviews by colleagues on texts you are interested in, we are working on creating a search tool for the book reviews so you can find those texts you'd like to read about more easily. This should be unveiled in the near future. In the meantime, please click on the Book Review banner below Nanette's column on the main screen of VSPN to see all the texts reviewed so far!
Check the chat calendar for upcoming rounds and sessions! "So you want to be a writer" is making its return in mid September; you'll want to be sure to attend!
